10 YEARS OF AWARENESS!
June 19th is the official World Sickle Cell Awareness Day, set aside for raising awareness; increasing public knowledge and understanding of the sickle cell disease, and the challenges experienced by patients and their families and caregivers.
We are excited to join the rest of the world to celebrate the 10th World Sickle Cell Awareness Day! As such, we’re launching a 10 days Sickle Cell Awareness Campaign, starting today June 10th to June 19th. During these ten days, we will share memes, quotes, poetry, pictures and any content which raises awareness about sickle cell on our social media as well as the website.
There are a couple of ways we would also like you to join us create awareness:
WEAR RED, HELP US SPREAD
You, like us, could put on red clothes and post a picture of yourself and/or friends wearing red and tag us @SCIFCameroon and #10DaysSCA. You could equally include your own quote motivating others to do their haemoglobin genotype tests and know their sickle cell status, to take care and be mindful of sickle cell patients in their close communities or even to donate to care initiatives for these warriors, like the one we have here at the foundation.
VOLUNTEER WITH US
If you want to lend a hand in the fight for sickle cell awareness, better and accessible treatment for sickle cell patients, we have room for you. Fill our volunteer registration form and we will contact you soon after.
PUT A SMILE ON THEIR FACES
If you’re close to or you know any sickle cell patient, we’d like you to also put smiles on their faces. These people go through a lot and they need plenty of support from their immediate community. So, call them, text them, hang out with them and make them feel loved and cared for. Your few words or smiles will go a long way!
All said,
Let the 10 DAY awareness campaign begin!
